Bio
I recently moved to Pasadena, into the spare bedroom of my mom’s charming 1912 craftsman, and am attempting to sort out a whole new life for myself here. It really is a fresh start, and I’m trying to see all the positive aspects of that, but it’s also a little terrifying.

Decreasing the terror, life has finally started to calm down - I just got the amazing job with an amazing company that I was so hoping to get. It's more hours than I thought, and it looks like it will increase, though it is part-time to start. I'm now working with small autistic kids to help with social-emotional development, and I'm really excited about it.

However, I still don’t know anyone around here! But I’m enjoying poking around Pasadena, and around the various fascinating neighborhoods that comprise Los Angeles. I love doing new things and going new places and meeting new people. If you have any suggestions, let me know! I have a fear of Saturday nights spent organizing my ribbon collection.

I especially love old stuff. All kinds and sorts of old stuff! I could wish for more local 18th and 19th century history, but in the absence thereof, I’ve found myself growing increasingly interested in vintage stuff, to the point that my appearance tends more and more toward an homage to the 1940s and 1950s, and I am full of plans for a more complete transformation.

I have my own business on the side, Bygone Glamour, doing primarily custom sewing, mostly historical or vintage inspired or reproduction clothes, plus whatever happens to catch my fancy. Fun and creative Halloween costumes are always a nice change, being quite the switch from the authentic 19th century sewing that was my main goal (with varied results) for so long.

To clear up any confusion: My penchant for nicknames keeps everyone on their feet – my birth certificate says Amanda, I’ve gone by Amie for ages, there was a brief stint of Andy in high school, and somehow or other Ava caught on like wildfire last year. It’s much more interesting than the alternatives, so I’ve run with it. If you think you know me but the name looks wrong, well, you probably know me!

One last thing – I love getting messages. I really do. This is why I have multiple email accounts, livejournal, myspace, facebook, google talk, and trillian, which is running three AIM accounts, two yahoo accounts, and one MSN account. Just in case someone I once knew has outdated contact info. But, that said – I sometimes forget to log on and check various of these items, or read a message and forget to reply to it, or generally get distracted. Don’t take it personally! I apologize in advance if my scatter-brained-ness causes you distress at some point in the future.

I can also be found on teh intarnets elsewhere:
-Facebook, as "Amie Ava Luther" - the best name compromise I could come up with
-MySpace, with the display name "Ava" at http://www.myspace.com/brinneth
-Picasa Web Albums, at http://picasaweb.google.com/ava.trimble
